Getting to Japan
There are a couple things that make travel easier and one of them is getting having the airline randomly assign us Priority Access. This meant we got to jump ahead in the TSA line, got to board first (and yes our choice of prime over-head luggage space). We also took a risk at the airport and traded our two seats by the window for the middle aisle that looked empty. This little gamble paid off big time, with only one other person in the middle of our wide-bodied jet, with three seats between us allowing us to spread out (and me to sleep across two seat for a bit).
The trip was still tiring.
Two hours to Chicago, wait two hours then fly for 13 hours.
Arrive at Narita. Go through customs, immigration, see if we wanted to rent cell phones, get some cash at the ATM and wait for the Narita express train.
Navigate our way through the maze that is Shinkjuku and find the hotel. Luckily we have stayed at the hotel before, but somehow I always get a bit confused leaving the station - but surprisingly after five years I remembered pretty well with one wrong turn.
Tokyo is a wet rainy steam bath - so we were pretty grumpy .
After getting J settled into the hotel, I went to the local Lawson's bought some ice cream, bottled water and we were ready to crash.
